The Chicago and Cincinnati Railroad constructed a line through English Lake and North Judson, opening by 1861. This route was part of a route to connect Logansport to Valparaiso, or in the bigger picture, Chicago to Logansport. This line later was owned by the Columbus, Chicago & Indiana Central Railway, After this railway went bankrupt, it was sold to the Chicago, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh Railroad Company in the 1882-1883 period. Eventually both this line and the one through the northern part of the county would be controlled by the Pennsylvania Railroad.
